The Criminal Exploitation Network
A community connecting practitioners, professionals, academics, researchers, students, law enforcement, policymakers and people with lived experience.
We bring together diverse voices to explore complex ideas, theories and questions, developing subject knowledge and building confidence in how it is applied.
The Criminal Exploitation Network is a free community for people who want to understand exploitation more deeply and do something with that understanding.
It brings together practitioners, academics, researchers, students, law enforcement, policymakers and people with lived experience, through in-person events across the UK where research, policy and practice meet in the same room.
Come to listen, to question, to share your work or to find the people who care about the same things you do.
What To expect at an event
Our events are built for conversation.
You won’t sit through a day of slides and go home.
You’ll meet people, hear things you won’t find in a textbook and leave with new questions and new contacts.
Guest speakers and specialist perspectives
Hear from practitioners, academics, researchers, law enforcement, policymakers and people with lived experience, each speaking about exploitation as they have seen, studied or survived it.
Discussions that connect research, policy and practice
Short talks lead into open conversation.
You’re encouraged to question, challenge and disagree respectfully, because the best ideas often come from the room as much as from the stage.
Real networking
Meet professionals and students who share your interests, whether you want to find a mentor, a collaborator, your first contact in the field or someone who understands the work you do.
Space to share
Bring your ideas, resources and research.
If you’re working on a dissertation, a project or a question you can’t let go of, this is a place to test it.
Everyone is welcome
You might be a student on your first placement or a practitioner with twenty years on the frontline.
You don’t need to be an expert to attend. You only need to be curious and respectful.
A safe, respectful space
Exploitation is a sensitive subject, and some people in the room will have lived it. We ask everyone to listen with care, respect confidentiality and treat every perspective with dignity.

What We Offer

In-Person Networking
Meet practitioners, academics, researchers, students and people with lived experience face to face. Whether you’re looking for a mentor, a collaborator or simply people who understand the work, you’ll leave with real connections.

Guest Speakers
Hear specialist perspectives from across the field, including frontline practitioners, researchers, law enforcement, policymakers and people with lived experience. Expect insight you won’t find in a textbook, followed by open discussion.

Resource Sharing
Share your ideas, research and resources with people who will use them. Swap reading lists, recommend studies, compare approaches and find out what others in the field are working on.

Meaningful Connections
Meet professionals who share your interests and build relationships that last beyond the event. Many will become collaborators, mentors or the people you call when a case, project or dissertation gets difficult.
